Rock'n'grunge: Nirvana (english).

Yes, today we're talking about one of the greatest and most legendary grunge group: NIRVANA. Because wer're young, but not ignorant.

If you still don't know Nirvana, what are you waiting for catching you all their disks, lock yourself in your room, put on headphones and jumping like a the devil was playing with your soul. The Nirvana story begins when Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic met at Abberden High School. Both were fans of The Melvins and both ran into the local of the group with that Kurt had played sometimes. Kurt proposed Krist to form a group together but Krist refused. Trying to convince him, Cobain gave him a demo of his band Fecal Matter and then Krist changed his mind and joined Kurt.

The duo hired Bob McFadden on drums but soon after a month the group disbanded. In 1987, Cobain and Novoselic recruited the drummer Aaron Burckhard creating Nirvana after trying several names like Skid Row, Pen Cap Chew, Bliss, and Ted Ed Fred. According to Kurt: "I wanted a name that sounded pretty or nice instead of one common, for example the name Angry Samoans". Kurt and Krist are moved to Washington so Aaron leaves the group and goes Dale Crover with whom they recorded their first demo in January 1988, the same month Crover moved to San Francisco but before leaving recommended Dave Foster. Foster would play in just 5 presentations to be arrested, which brought back Buckhard who quickly back out to complain about having to be rehearsing all day.

Krist and Kurt return to Seattle and published a newspaper ad: "punk rock band with influences from Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Black Flag, Butthole Surfers and Scratch Acid Battery searches" this way they contacted with Chad Channing

In November 1988 they released their first single "Love Buzz" with Seattle the independent label Sub Pop. A month later contact with producer Jack Endino and begin recording their first album "Bleach" published in June 1989 with influences from The Melvins, Mudhoney and 70s rock (Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath). Novoselic also was influenced by The Smithereens Albums and Celtic Frost. During recording Jason Everman joined the group to, h wasn't involved directly but paid recording studio sessions ($ 606.17). Novoselic said: "we wanted to make you feel at home, with the band". Nirvana began it tour and it album became a favorite of college radio in the United States. Due to disagreements between them, Everman left the group. Sub Pop didn't promote Bleach as both other albums so Kurt got upset and in December of that year he published an EP under the name of "Blew" with Tupelo Records and Steve Fisk as producer. Nirvana's style began to change in Cobain's words: "Our first songs really sounded in anger, but as time goes on the songs become more calm and so I feel happier The songs are about the process. conflicts in relationships with other human beings. "

In April 1990 begin to work in their next album at Smart Studios in Madison with Butch Vig. During the recording tensions arose 'cos Chad hadn't participated actively during the songwriting which ended with the split of the group of Channing. In July Dan Peters of Mudhoney was  hired with him they recorded "Sliver". In September Buzz Osborne introduced them to Dave Grohl who move to Seattle. Cobain and Novoselic said later: "In two minutes, we knew Dave was the drummer indicated". The group decided to break with Sub Pop and following the recommendations of Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), signed to DGC Records of David Geffen. They began recording "Sheep" with Butch Vig at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles. For mixtures Cobain chose Andy Wallace (co-producer of "Seasons in the Abyss" by Slayer). Wallace added layers of reverb and tricks to make the sound not so dark. A few months after Cobain complained alleging that Wallace had made the sound too light. The first single from Nevermind: "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was soon nearly omnipresent on television and radio in late 1991. The album went triple platinum in the United States in less than six months and reached # 6 on the Billboard Top 100 and sweep along to other  hard metal groups and grunge sounds ("Ten" by Pearl Jam and "Badmotorfinger" by Soundgarden). Billboard declared, "Nirvana is that rare band that has everything: critical acclaim and industry, radio transmission and an alternative base". The January 11, 1992 reached 12 million copies sold in the USA, 30 worldwide and # 1 on the Billboard 200 by moving the "Dangerous" by Michael Jackson and overcoming the "Use Your Illusion" by Guns N 'Roses

After touring with Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers on the east coast and toured Australia and Japan, Nirvana took a break in promoting Nevermind. In August 1992, after the tour of the Pacific, Kurt married Courtney Love with whom he had a daughter, Frances Bean. Corbain tried to reorganize the composition royalties from the band which were equally divided to highlight the fact that he wrote most of the songs. Grohl and Novoselic didn't object until Kurt proposed that were retroactive to the publication of Nevermind what could cause the dissolution of the band. After a week of negotiations, Kurt received a retroactive 75% share of the compositions but unease among members was there. New dissolution rumors started because of health problems Cobain.

Nirvana starred in the Reading Festival, one of their most famous concerts where Kurt came on stage in a wheelchair and wearing a wig parodying the rumors about his mental state. He played songs like "The Money Will Roll Right In" by Fang, "D-7" from Wipers, "The Star-Spangled Banner" in the Jimi Hendrix's style and Novoselic sang "More so a Feeling" by Boston.

"Incesticide" was released in December, a compilation album of B-sides and rarities. Some of the topics included: "Aneurysm", "Been a Son", "Dive", "Sliver" and various versions of The Vaselines. It began circulating early material illegally unpublished group and several sessions at the BBC.

Steve Albini was chosen for the recording of "In Utero". He was well-know for his production of "Sufer Rosa" by Pixies. The sound that came out of Pachyderm Studio (Minnesota) was less "artificial". For example, in "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" had less noise feedback periods. Regarding Albini, Cobain stated that the producer got the sound that Nirvana wanted a "natural" recording without studio tricks. However the band wasn't very satisfied with some mixtures. They believed that the low notes weren't very deep and Cobain thought the sound wasn't perfect in "All Apologies" and "Heart-Shaped Box" and resorted to REM producer, Scott Litt, for mixing these two songs. Litt also mixed "Pennyroyal Tea" but its used disk version Albini.

"In Utero" also had to deal with censorship. Department stores like Kmart and Wal-Mart refused to put the disc on their shelves claiming that songs like "Rape Me" and the collage of plastic back fetuses on the cover were very "controversial" for the family chains. The band had to change the cover and creating another version of the song: "Waif Me". The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard but didn't have the same success as Nevermind. On the tour they played half-filled auditorium. For this tour they joined to the group Pat Smear (The Germs) as a second guitarist.

In November 1993, the tour stops for the MTV Unplugged performance. These sessions revealed the depth of the compositions of Kurt's often lost under the aggressive sound and showed his great musical interest in the selection of songs by The Vaselines, Meat Puppets, Leadbelly and David Bowie.

Earlier this year begins the tour of Europe. Although it started well was losing influx by the image of a bored and distracted Kurt, especially in Italy. March 1, after the concert at Terminal Eins in Múnich, Cobain were diagnosed a severe bronchitis and laryngitis. March 4, was found unconscious by Courtney Love who took him to hospital. According to all physician statements resulted from the mixture of Rohypnol and alcohol. The tour was canceled because the Kurt's heroin addiction. He was persuaded by family and friends to attend rehabilitation. Cobain escaped from the center a few days afterward and flew to Seattle. A week later, on April 8, 1994, his lifeless body because of a gunshot wound would be found by an electrician at his home in Seatlle.
