Hoy una de mis bandas favoritas y de las más longevas que hemos visto hasta el momento:

Se trata de una banda inglesa de rock formada en 1994 (a punto de llegar a los 20 de carrera) en Teigmouth (Inglaterra). Sus miembros son:
Matt Bellamy (compositor, voz, guitarra, teclados),
Dominic Howard (batería y percusión) y
Christopher Wolstenholme (bajo eléctrico, teclados y coros). Tras el lanzamiento de
Black Holes and Revelations,
Morgan Nicholls empezó a colaborar con la banda en los conciertos con los teclados, smaples y coros (algunas veces hacía de segunda guitarra). E increíblemente con ellos no tenemos ningún baile de componentes que entran y salen de la banda.
Sus conciertos pueden resultar extravagantes para cierto tipo de público. Mezclan el rock alternativo, con el sinfónico, el progresivo y la electrónica. Los temas de sus letras son: la vida extraterrestre, pensamientos humanos, el fin del mundo (simbólicamente hablando), la astrofísica, la revolución y la conspiración global.
Sus influencias son Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Rush, Deftones, Jeff Buckley, Sergéi Rajmáninov, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Queen, Franz Liszt, Frédéric Chopen, Smashing Pumpkins y U2 (curiosa la mezcla pero con muy buenos resultados).

Black Holes and Revelations fue el tercer mejor álbum par la revista NME en 2006. Han ganado diversos premios como: cinco MTV Europa Music Awards, cinco Grammies, seis Q Awards, ocho NME Awards, dos Brit Awards, un MTV Video Music Awards, cuatro Kerrang! Awards y un American Music Award.

Matt Bellamy tocaba en
Carnage Mayhem y
Dominic Howard en
Gothic Plague. Ambos estudiaban en el mismo colegio y se hicieron amigos. En diciembre de 1992, Bellamy deja su grupo porque no era tan "cool" como la de Dominic quien pedía reemplazar al guitarrista que había dejado su grupo. Tras varios cambios en la banda le piden a
Chris Wolstenhome (quien tocaba la batería en
Fixed Penalty) que aprendiera a tocar el bajo para unirse a su grupo. Se creó así
Rocket Baby Dolls con una imagen goth/glam en 1994 cuando ganaron una competición de bandas locales. "Se suponía que iba a ser una protesta, una declaración", dijo Bellamy, "así que, cuando realmente ganamos, fue un verdadero shock. Una enorme conmoción. Después de eso comenzamos a tomarnos en serio a nosotros mismos”.
Poco después todos dejan la universidad y sus trabajos para crear a Muse y dejar Teigmouth.
Llegaron los primeros conciertos en Londres y Manchester. Junto a Dennis Smith, dueño de Sawmills Studio, sale el primer y segundo EP. Origin of Symmetry) experimentaron con instrumentos nuevos instrumentos como el órgano de iglesia, el mellotrón y una batería más completa, la utilización del piano con inspiración de los románticos y posrománticos rusos
Rajmáninov y
Charkovski. Hay influencias de
Jimi Hendriz y
Tom Morello (
Audioslave). Para la
Revista Q ha sido el 74 de los 100 mejores discos de la historia.
Absolution puede considerarse una continuación de Symmetry. En las letras gran influencia de la Guerra de Irak.
Black Holes and Revelations ha sido uno de sus álbumes con más éxito y con en que ampliaron el número de países en su gira.
The 2nd Law es según Bellamly: "una odisea de jazz rap cristiano y gangsta, con algo de ambiente dubstep rebelde y psicodélia vaquera flamenca extremadamente metalera".

After the release of Black Holes and Revelations, Morgan Nicholls began working with the band in concert with keyboards, samples and vocals (sometimes made of guitar). And amazingly the components had not changed since the inception.
Their concerts can be extravagant to some audiences. They mix alternative rock with symphonic rock, progressive rock and electronics. The themes of their lyrics are: extraterrestrial life, human thoughts, the end of the world (symbolically speaking), astrophysics, revolution and global conspiracy.

Black Holes and Revelations was the third best album par NME in 2006. They have won many awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards, five Grammies six Q Awards, eight NME Awards, two BRIT Awards, an MTV Video Music Awards, four Kerrang! Awards and an American Music Award.At 90, Matt Bellamy played in Carnage Mayhem and Dominic Howard in Gothic Plague. Both studying in the same school and became friends. In December 1992, Bellamy left the group because it was not as "cool" as Dominic asked to replace guitarist who had left the group. After several changes in the band they ask Chris Wolstenholme (who played drums in Fixed Penalty) to learn to play bass to join your group. This created Rocke tBaby Dolls with a goth/glam image in 1994 when they won a competition for local bands. Black Holes and Revelations was one of their most successful album and it expanded the number of countries on their tour. The 2nd Law is Bellamly as "christian gangsta rap jazz odyssey, with some ambient rebellious dubstep and face melting metal flamenco cowboy psychedelia".
