It could say I've grown up listening to Papa Roach, because the band was established in 1993 and twenty years later still active. Thank you. The band is based in Vacaville (California). The group's name comes from the nickname Shaddix 's grandfather, Howard William Roatch, who committed suicide in 2006 and who was honored in the "The Paramour Sessions" album with the song "Roses On My Grave", but they got wellknown in the year 2000 with their album "Infest". Their style is defined as alternative rock, nu metal, punk and hard rock . The group was formed with Jacoby Shaddix (vocals), Dave Buckner (drums) , Will James (bass) and Ben Lutter (guitar), the last one was replaced by Jerry Horton shortly after. The group rehearsed in the garage of Dave and performed in small clubs.
In 1994 they recorded their first EP (Potatoes for Christmas) with seven songs and Tobin Esperance instead of Will James. In 1995 came the second EP (Cacabonita) with three songs. In 1997 their first album "Old Friends from Young Years". In 1998 the third EP "5 Tracks Deep" in 1999 and "Let 'em know".
Then came Warner Music Group and with them a record five cambiones: "Infest", "Last Resort ", "Broken Home", "Dead Cell" , and "She Loves Me Not" (who has not heard this last?) . A year later fichan by DreamWorks Records comes the album "Infest", touring, album sales and recognition of the band worldwide.

Se puede decir que yo he crecido escuchando a Papa Roach, no en vano la banda se creó en 1993 y veinte años después sigue en activo. Gracias. La banda se funda en Vacaville (California). El nombre del grupo viene del apodo del abuelo de Shaddix, Howard William Roatch, quien se suicidó en 2006 y a quien se le rindió homenaje en el disco "The Paramour Sessions" con la canción "Roses On My Grave", pero fue en el año 2000 con su álbum "Infest" cuando les conocimos.
Su estilo se define como rock alternativo, nu metal, punk o hard rock. El grupo se forma con Jacoby Shaddix (vocalista), Dave Buckner (batería), Will James (bajo) y Ben Lutter (guitarra), éste último fue reemplazado por Jerry Horton poco después. El grupo ensayaba en el garaje de Dave y actuaba en pequeños locales.
En 1994 graban su primer EP (Potatoes for Christmas) con siete canciones y con Tobin Esperance en lugar de Will James. En 1995 llegó el segundo EP (Cacabonita) con tres canciones. En 1997 su primer álbum "Old Friends from Young Years". En 1998 el tercer EP "5 Tracks Deep" y en 1999 "Let 'em know".
Llegó entonces Warner Music Group y con ellos un disco de cinco cambiones: "Infest", "Last Resort", "Broken Home", "Dead Cell", y "She Loves Me Not" (¿quién no ha escuchado esta última?). Un año después fichan por DreamWorks Records y llega el álbum "Infest", las giras, la venta de disco y el reconocimiento de la banda a nivel mundial.

Rock'ñ'Roll: Romeo.
Donde menos te lo esperas puedes encontrar buena música. ¿Por ejemplo? Yo descubrí a Romeo escuchando la aburrida radio internacional española. Sí, me quedé flipada. Y ¡no! ¡no! ¡no me lo puedo creer! ¡Otra vez no!!! Vale. No conozco al grupo así que para poder hablar de él ¿qué he hecho? Pues meterme en su página web y ¿adivina qué? Hay un comunicado anunciando un parón indefinido en la actividad del grupo. ¡¿¿¿Por qué me pasa siempre esto a mí???!! No me lo puedo creer. No me lo puedo creer. ¿Por qué? ¡¡No es justo!!
Bueno pues nos dejan con tres discos:

My Chemical Romance
One of my characters loves "My Chemical Romance" (Hi Onixe! This' 4 u). The band was created in 2001 in New Jersey. It was formed by Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Frank Iero and Ray Toro (temporal: Matt Pelissier and Bob Bryar). They separated in March this year (why ? Why's always the same?).
His style is defined as punk rock, post -hardcore, garage rock or emo. Their influences have been MC5, Teenage Fanclub, Morrissey, Queen, Black Flag and Jawbraker. According to its members their songs try convey the message of not being afraid to live ("Famous Last Words" or "Save yourself, I'll hold them back"). Also talk about personal problems and love.
In 2001, Gerald would work as a cartoonist when he was witnessed of the September 11th attacks, a fact that encouraged him to do something meaningful with his life. So he suggested to his high school classmate, Matt Pelissier, create a group. The first song was "Skylines and Turnstiles" written by Way while living in New York and inspired by the 11S. Later joined Ray and Mikey. Mikey was who suggested the group name inspired by the book "Ecstasy: three tales of chemical romance" by Irvine Welsh.
In 2004, "Three cheers for sweet revenge" album that would have wide acceptance and which was dedicated to the grandmother of Gerard and Michael (Elena Lee Rush) who died two weeks before thealbum was published. She was who supported the brothers and taught them singing, acting and drawing. The most popular songs from this album: "Helena" (most requested video on MTV Latin America in 2005), "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)"and "The ghost of you".
His third album also had great success: "The Black Parade" which came to say it was their alter ego and it's was the album for what they wanted to be remembered. Their sound is more classic and similar to the 70's style. Rolling Stone awarded the post of top 20 Top 50 of 2006 and "Welcome to the Black Parade" was included in the list of The 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time".

Rock'ñ'Roll: Heroes of Silence
Otra banda desaparecida, sí seguimos rindiendo culto a los héroes caídos (y esta vez con un doble sentido), con una de mis voces favoritas: Héroes del Silencio (abreviado Héroes o HDS). Fueron un grupo español (Zaragoza, España) surgido en los 80. El grupo se componía en su origen por Enrique Bunbury (voz y guitarra rítmica a quien ya dedicaremos otro post), Juan Valdivia (guitarra solista), Joaquín Cardiel (bajo) y Pedro Andreu (batería). En doce años vendieron más de 6 millones de discos en 37 países. Se separaron en 1996.
Tenía una imagen muy característica con un simbología muy particular. Sus letras eran ambiguas y transcendentales con una sólida base musical. Estuvieron influenciados por William Blake y Charle Baudelaire, Led Zeppelin y The Cult. La revista "Al Borde" incluyó sus cuatro álbums en la lista de los 250 mejores del rock iberoamericano:

- Avalancha (35º)
- El espíritu del vino (117º)
- El mar no cesa (119º)
Y su canción "Entre dos tierras" fue la 19ª mejor canción de todos los tiempos del rock latino por "Satélite Musical". Para" Rolling Stone" son el 2º mejor del rock español de la historia.
A esta gente molaría verla en versión actualizada (que malos fueron los 80)...

The group was composed originally by Enrique Bunbury (vocals and rhythm guitar and who will talk in another post), Juan Valdivia (lead guitar), Joaquín Cardiel (bass) and Pedro Andreu (drums). In twelve years they sold more than 6 million albums in 37 countries. They separated in 1996.
They had a very distinctived image, with a particular symbology. Their lyrics were ambiguous and transcendental with a solid musical foundation. They were influenced by William Blake and Baudelaire Charle, Led Zeppelin and The Cult. The magazine "Al Borde" included their four albums on the list of top 250 rock Iberoamerican:
And "Musical Satellite" say their song "Entre dos tierras (Between two lands)" was the 19th best song of all time Latin rock. For "Rolling Stone" they are the 2nd best Spanish rock history.
It'd cool to see these band in updated version (the 80's... argh!!) ...

New uncover/nuevo descubrimiento
Mirando mi paupérrima lista de seguidores en Twitter (sólo dame tiempo para mejorar, follow me, follow me) he hecho un gran descubrimiento: Stone Kings. En la descripción de su perfil dicen que entre algunas de sus influencias están mis queridos Alice in chains y he tenido que curiosear. Y me gussssta lo que he descubierto. Me gustan las guitaaaaarrrraas. Me gusta todo.

Audioslave: a basic classic/uno de los básicos.
Why? Why? Just tell me the reason why many of my favorite bands had disappered or separeded or won't create more gorgeous feelings? Time to Audioslave.The worst thing? JUST 3 ALBUMS!!! Definitely just no fair!! But at least, they're playing at other bands.
Audioslave was a American Alternative Rock Band formed in Los Angeles in 2001 and disbanded in 2007. It was formed by Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) and Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine). The band name was being used by another Liverpool group who paid $ 30,000 for it, the Britons became "The Most Terrifying Thing". The choice of name gave them more problems. It was defined by Pitchfork Media as "the stupidest name of the year" and Spin as "one of the most absurd names in recent rock history". They were the first band to play outdoors in Cuba in 2005 for 50,000 spectators and sold over 7 million records. They made their live debut on November 25, 2002 on the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway (NY) for the Late Show with David Letterman.
The group combined the hard rock of the '70s with grunge. Highlighted the Cornell's wide vocal range, the Morello's guitar solos and the rhythm section by Wilk and Commerford. Cornell letters were apolitical, as Morello said " harrowing existential poetry". Lyrics covers topics such as existentialism, love, hedonism and spirituality (I'm not religious but religion surrounds us). Were influenced by Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. The albums:

"City of Angels" el primer corto de Bartholomew Cubbins (=Jared Leto) de 30 Seconds to Mars ya está en la red. En el msmo participan Alan Cumming, Ashley Olsen, Corey Feldman, James Franco, Juliette Lewis,
Kanye West, Lily Collins, Lindsay Lohan, Olivia Wilde, Selena Gomez,
Shaun White, and Steve Nash.

30 second to mars week/semana.
Yes!!! This is the 30 Second to Mars' week!! Just 1 day for the concert!!! Obviously they're one of my favorite bands and no, I'm not looking on the memories box, but I could 'cos they started at '98 at The Angeles. The original members: Jared Leto, Matt Wachter and Shannon Leto. Solon Bixler played some time with but he was replaced by Tomo Milicevic. Matt Wachter leaved the group and now plays by Angels & Airwaves.
CV: 11 millions albums sold, +50 awards,+70 nominations, +300 concert at the last tour 2010-11 (Guinness Record), 4 albums: "30 Seconds to Mars", "A Beautiful Lie", "This Is War" and "Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams".

Descansa en paz/rest in peace Lou Reed.
Hoy ha fallecido el legendario Lou Reed cofundador de The Velvet Underground junto a John Cale en 1964. En solitario triunfó con álbumnes como "Transformer", "Lou Reed" o "Metal Machine Music".
The Velvet Underground fue fundada en 1964 en Nueva York. Fue una de las primeras bandas en incluir influencia avat-garde y el uso del noise dentro del rock (ruido de guitarras). La historia de la banda se inicia cuando Reed y Cale se conocen y fundan The Primitives para promocionar el single de Reed "The Ostrich". Posteriormente se les unión Sterling Morrison y Angus McLise formando The warlocks que más tarde pasarían a ser The Falling Spikes.
The Velvet Underground es el título de un libro sobre sadomasoquismo de Michael Leigh que un amigo de la banda, Jim Tucker, encontró tirado en la calle. MacLise fue reemplazado por Maureen Tucker quien tocaba la batería de pie y con mazos en lugar de baquetas.
Su música está llega de ruido y distorsiones y la las letras tras de tópicos inuales para su época como el masoquismo, travestismo y la adicción a la heroina, Andy Warhol fue mánager del grupo y fue él quien sugirió que la modelo Nico debía cantar en la banda pasando a ser The Velvet Underground & Nico. Reed acabó despidiendo a Warhol y Nico.

His music is coming from noise and distortions and his letters about topics, very inuales for its time, as masochism, transvestism and heroin addiction, Andy Warhol was manager of the group and it was he who suggested that the model Nico was singer, so their name changed to The Velvet Underground & Nico. At the end Reed dismissed Warhol and Nico.

So good to be on holidays/de vacaciones!!!
I think I've lost my clock. I've no idea what I'm going to do without it when I have to come back to real life. What pleasure life without hurry, pressure, demons, alarm clock, traffic tram...
